Here in Australia the Christmas tree is shining with baubles and lights. The nativity star gleams at its peak.
The presents are being purchased with care and delight and wrapped with gladness.
Food and drink are stocking the fridge.
Around the world Christmas will be celebrated in different ways, and we honour those differences.
But wherever we are, while we focus on these “Christmassy” things, we at New Hope International also remember that Jesus came to earth to save and to serve. It is the time we remember the birth of the Prince of Peace, Jesus. Make this a time to reflect on the baby who became God-in-man. He grew to be the sinless Son of God who died on the Cross to bring us into a relationship with His Father. As you give gifts to your children and loved ones remember this gift from God; forgiveness of sins and peace in the midst of life.
John 1:14 The Word (Jesus) became a human and lived among us.
We saw his glory—the glory that belongs to the only Son of the
Father—and he was full of grace and truth.
I also love these words attributed to Alexander Smith, “Christmas is the day that holds all time together”. What a profound statement. Maybe we can contemplate these words over Christmas.
Whatever you do, wherever you find yourself over the Christmas break, may God richly bless you and keep you and yours safe and happy during the holidays. Join us next January with anticipation for another wonderful year of serving Christ in the ministry of Christian Education across the globe:
And remember that “Jesus is the Reason for the Season”.
