About The Event

What is it?

The Effective Teaching and Learning Series or ETLS as it is known, is a course that encapsulates the meaning of being a Christian teacher. ETLS is a practical course that is offered to teachers and educators worldwide, where participants learn the foundations essential for their school to become a Christ-centred, Bible-based, Spirit-led learning community.

Why do it?

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to begin a process of change in their school by living out the principles learned. Participants will also be equipped to deliver the course to colleagues in their own school by having access to the ETLS training material, resources and direct contact with the team of New Hope International (NHI) 'Master Trainers'.

How does it work?

NHI believes that the only true way one can learn to teach is by being taught as Jesus taught (using a transformative approach). The training methodology of ETLS is a discipleship model. The participants in the January seminar will learn together by engaging in collaborative teaching and learning activities. However, the process of change is long term and requires an ongoing commitment to learning. Therefore, it is highly recommended that where possible, teachers (or more importantly a group of teachers)) commit to completing all three series of the ETLS training for embedded long-term change to occur within their school or community.

Are there additional benefits?

For those who are teachers wishing to maintain their accreditation in NSW, ten hours of the course will go toward their NESA accreditation. When a teacher completes all THREE Series with some additional work, they can receive advanced standing for one unit of a Master of Education at Morling Education. The ETLS work must have been completed prior to enrolment in this course.

Which course will you choose?

At the Newcastle training (January 7 - 11 2019) you will have the opportunity to complete either Series1 or Series 2. Please be aware that Series 2 is for those participants who have completed Series 1 at any previous training seminar conducted by NHI or an NHI approved training provider.
