EDUCATE NEPAL
Graham Kerr
EDUCATE NEPAL ESTABLISHED In June of 2009, Grahame returned to Nepal to meet with a solicitor and the Hosanna Church leaders in order to establish Educate Nepal as a non-government organisation with Nepalese directors. The aim of Educate Nepal is to touch the nation through Christian community development with a primary focus of education. TRAIN THE TRAINER As a result of Grahame's June ‘09 visit, a Christian teacher training conference was organised and will be conducted in January 2010 by a team of ten from Australia with Dr Edwin Boyce and Dr Stephen Fyson of Southland College as the keynote speakers. Educate Nepal in association with The Nepal Christian Schools Association and the material being presented has been developed by New Hope International**. At the same time, team members with Business degrees will be researching ways to help the Christian Community within Nepal. THE CONFERENCE A Methodist Korean Centre has been hired to accommodate 75 delegates for the two week, live-in conference. Teaching will be conducted at two levels. ‘Train the Trainer' for 15 delegates and ‘Unqualified Teacher Training' for 60 delegates. The cost of this conference (excluding team travel expenses) is $12,500 which provides for accommodation and materials for the Nepalese delegates. We are continuing to trust God for these funds and would appreciate any contribution you could make toward these costs. THE NEEDS 1. Facilities: We need to identify a suitable building to lease to commence a Laboratory School incorporating Teacher Training and Primary education initially. 2. Staff: The ideal would be to find a suitably qualified person(s) in Australia who believe God is leading them to work with Educate Nepal in Kathmandu. The Senior Pastor of Hosanna Church, Raj, asked to have someone from Australia to help them for the first three years. Laying firm foundations for the College will be critical to its success and we have not yet identified anyone in Nepal that we are confident could rise to this challenge. Please pray that God would raise up a suitable person or persons to fulfil this need. FURTHER TRAINING Educate Nepal proposes to conduct follow-up teacher training seminars in June 2010 and January 2011.
