Opening of the Pori Library by the PNG Minister of Education

On the 15th of September, 09 the National Minister for Education and Member for Tari/Pori, Honourable James Marabe officially opened the Library in Pori, in the newly formed Hela province (in Southern Highlands of Papua New Guinea.

Pori Community takes ownership
The Minister said he was pleased with the community taking ownership towards raising funds through the Community Integrated Educational Development Agency (CIEDA) organisation and putting up the building and doing other community projects like the airstrip. Through the Ministers speech he highlighted of recognition of CIEDA'S involvement in Pori and announced to the community that he will donate K10:OOO Worth of books to the Library. He also donated K20,000.OO to Pori Primary school and another K20,00O.00 to Tuku primary school. He also promised to give some funds propose for a new primary school in Pori called Kuranda and also follow up on elementary subsidies for more than 12 elementary schools in Pori. Currently there are 2 government run primary schools in Pori named as Tuku and Tade and one Christian Brethren run Pori Primary school. The Library would also support the Correspondence and Bible studies students in Pori. The Minister has highlighted that before 2012 Pori Christian High school should be developed once the catchment primary schools are upgraded and produce grade 8 results. Then Pori can cater for grade 9 classes in 20011/20012.

The Minister to Open CIEDA
The Minister has accepted the invitation for the launching of The Community Integrated Educational Development Agency (CIEDA) and asked CIEDA committees to set a date for the opening. CIEDA organisation would be conducting awarenesses, training and supporting the community development projects in Pori and Hela province. The minister promised to allocate funds for the road leading from Tari to Pori and before 2012 National elections, Pori would be connected
