Maryanne Frisken Executive Secretary New Hope International Rosalie Bell, who is teaching in PNG wrote about the delight of the teachers in her school when they found out each child could have a book. "You should have seen my teachers when I showed them the Maths books! They have taken them home tonight to look through. The Kinder teacher tried to tell me that they normally use one book - rip the pages out and photocopy - I explained - we have plenty of books and each child can use their own. If we run out we keep one and photocopy but we don't need to rip the books up. The students who came today in my class used them. I couldn't stop them -they just wanted to do more. It is such a breath of fresh air!" The students wrote to Maryanne at NHI "This is a fun way of learning maths"; "We never had books like this before, so when our teacher showed us we were very happy"; "The books are very special!"; "It makes maths enjoyable and the instructions helped us understand the work." Many thanks to teachers in Christian schools and to Baptist World Aid (Aust) for helping get the books up to PNG. All the students received a book of their own. Sue Skuthorpe visits Wapenamanda Sue Skuthorpe, Chair of New Hope International, recently also visited Rosalie and Kevin Bell in Wapenamanda where they are teaching at the Four Square Church Schools and reported on the wonderful job they are doing in raising the standards of teaching and of the buildings and equipment there. Sue also dedicated container of goods that Ray Bartell from WA had taken up to Mount Hagen. This contained school equipment that had been donated by schools in WA. Ray and his wife Trish will be working in Mount Hagen after Trish has surgery for a serious throat condition. Please pray for Trish and Ray, and pray for full recovery for Trish. Ray was in Mt Hagen for a short time making arrangements for them to relocate there.
